Note in the summer at least there is an "economy" car park further up the hill on the right (before you get to the free spaces), basically a farmers field with an honesty box, I think it was £2 for the day! This was the only walk I did as a part circular walk too as you say there are no buses around here that you can use for a walk. <br /><br />The hotel on Burgh Island is stupidly expensive. I looked into it and I think the cheapest room was about £200 a night and there was a minimum stay of I think 3 nights. At that price, I gave it a miss and used a campsite a bit nearer Salcombe instead. <br /><br />I think that strange sea tractor is kept busy with people going to and from the pub on the island. A nice walk I did from here too is to follow the Avon Estuary Walk. I drove to Bigbury and timed it so I could walk down and take the ferry across the river and then walked back up both sides of the river.
